Chair-based gymnastics programme for older people

19/02/2019

Home Instead, in partnership with the British Gymnastics Foundation, are launching a chair-based gymnastics programme specially designed to get older people moving and functioning better.

Almost every part of this exercise programme works on the bi-lateral asymmetric movement patterns. This benefits all older people including those with dementia and mild cognitive impairment, by enabling the left side and right side of the brain to process information independently, thus improving cognitive function, co-ordination and the ability to carry out activities of daily living more independently.

The programme starts on the Monday 28th  January from 10.30am-12noon at the Lantern Art Centre, Tolverine Road, Raynes Park and will run every Monday throughout the year. There will be refreshments served in a friendly and encouraging environment. Cost is a £3 weekly contribution to cover the room hire.
