Your spotlight on local services

Engagement on gluten free food on prescriptions

Merton CCG is currently asking for local people’s views about 4 areas they have identified as possible places where money could be saved as they try to deal with their budget deficit.

This includes gluten-free meals on prescription; and Coeliac UK (the national charity which represents people who have Coeliac disease and can’t eat gluten) have sent in a very detailed response outlining the concerns they have about how this will affect patients.

The other areas under review are: over the counter medicines, IVF fertility treatment, and getting patients surgery ready. If you would like to let the CCG know your views, you can get in touch with them on PPE@mertonccg.nhs.uk or 020 3668 1221 before the 20th March. You can see a detailed information leaflet which they have produced about their proposals, here: www.enableeast.org.uk/ccg-merton/#2 to find out more about any of the four areas.
