Recovery Cafe to open in Merton this April

Two recovery cafes for people in mental health crisis have been commissioned by South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust and are due to open from the 7th of April. One will be in Merton and will be run by CDARS, and the other will be in Wandsworth and will be run by Hestia. Contact details are below.

CDARS Sunshine Recovery Café

296a Kingston Road

Wimbledon Chase

SW20 8LX

Hestia Recovery Café

966 Garratt Lane

SW17 0EN

The cafés both have capacity for 25 customers at any one time.

Their aim is to support people to reduce their immediate crisis and anxiety, and to safety plan, drawing on strengths, resilience and coping mechanisms to reduce the need to use crisis services in future. They are an alternative for people who might otherwise have gone to A&E because of their mental health, and are an out of hours service to support people when other services are closed.

Opening hours are 6pm – 11pm Monday to Friday and 12 noon – 11pm on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.  Both cafés will be open 365 days per year.
